The Amsterdam Gay Pride is a festive event with a gay cultural character.
It is since 1996 an annual event during the first weekend of August in the center of Amsterdam.
Very famous is the colorful procession of boats on the first Saturday of August through the canals momentum.
Previously, the Amsterdam Pride done through an association of gay bars in Amsterdam (GBA),
but due to a too large success was taken over by the Amsterdam (municipal) ProGay foundation.
Now another more Gay organisation took over.
The canalparade is on the first Saturday of August and start from Westerdok through the Prinsengracht, Amstel, Zwanenburgwal and Oudeschans to the Oosterdok.
The activities in the city are enormous.
All Fridays and Saturdays are the best days to party.
The Zeedijk and Amstel are crowded.
The three ambassadors for this year are: Raymi Sambo, artist and activist Dolly Bellefleur and former editor in chief aside and writer Margriet van der Linden.
The theme of the Amsterdam Gay Pride 2015 this year is 'Share'. Sharing is multiplying: shared joy is double joy and that includes the field of love. Sharing is next to take to accept and give. Sharing is caring have another, respect each other and accept each other's differences. It is to know how it goes with another, dare to be yourself, you vulnerable. It is above all showing our diversity to the world.
Special Boat for homeless LGTB youth:
So much attention to young people this year at the Amsterdam Gay Pride 2015. The problems among homeless youth and under - especially young - refugees is underexposed in the Netherlands. "Different agencies seize the Amsterdam Gay Pride this year to raise awareness for homeless young people and for young refugees," said Lucien Spee director of the Amsterdam Gay Pride.
