One of central London's iconic LGBTQ+ bars will be close down and so Soho's Old Compton Street lost its popular LGBT bar. Before known as Manto , it was a popular destination in Old Compton Street .



This bar was buzzing and it was a different world. Exciting and colourful with neon lights, dancing and loud music playing and drinks ,meet people and friends .

It was ‘time to say goodbye’ to the venue after 25 years , said the owner .

Back in January, the owner announced plans to sell the venue just weeks after battling to reopen his other venue, Heaven nightclub who was closed by some rulling where a member of security staff was accused of raping a woman. The staff member was found not guilty for it .

After announcing that Corsica Studios in Elephant and Castle would be closing its doors in early 2026 because a redevelopment of the site goes ahead.



G-A-Y Bar will now serve its last customers on October 4 and 5.
